It is my third time down to the Perth Motorplex to witness a Wednesday radial racing night and I had another great night.
This round was pushed forward a week after the weather was less than favourable which was a real shame because Kyle Loftis, from 1320 Video, was in town for Racewars and sadly, he didn’t get to see a single drag racing pass whilst in WA. Another time perhaps.
The talk was of 50 cars racing but sadly, that number dropped significantly. That isn’t to say that the racing was any worse off though. Nine new cars debuted and the king of kings, Eddy Tassone knocked off a 4.70 over the eighth-mile after his epic performance at Racewars.
Organiser Corey Marriott is exceptionally passionate about this style of racing and he is always working hard behind the scenes to make the racing work. People really do need to appreciate his efforts – he is doing it for the love of it. Ray Treasure, the main man at the ‘Plex also loves the eighth-mile racing and is involved significantly. If you see these blokes, shake their hand and thank them for what they are doing.
There are three rounds of racing left, so don’t be shy, get your car down there or at least come and check it all out.
